FREESTYLE & HOSTED

San Carlos de Bariloche, the city at the foothills of the Andes named after the pioneer Carlos Wiederhold (who was born in Germany), has the appearance of an alpine town and is surrounded by lakes and mountains, with spectacular scenery. The lakes of Nahuel Huapi, Guatierrez, Moreno and Mascardi, backed by the mountains of Tronador, Cerro Catedral and Cerro Lopez, provide an immense variety of landscapes for sightseeing; hiking; climbing; rafting; water sports and leisurely walks. In the Winter (July to September), Cerro Catedral is one of South America’s main snow skiing destinations and there is great scenery to enjoy. In the Summer the main attractions are panoramic sightseeing and soft adventure, but there are beaches on Lake Nahuel Huapi, pleasant for sunbathing and offering water sports facilities. There are cruises of the lakes and a wide variety of local excursions available. The lake crossing to Chile offers the best panoramic views of the region.
