This expedition into Pantanal, Amazon and Iguassu will get you closer to nature with comfort and safety. Pantanal, the largest area of marshland in the world, is classified by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve and is inhabited by numerous species of mammals, reptiles, birds and fish. Amazon, the largest rain forest in the world, shelters one third of earth's living species and is the source of one quarter of the world's water supply. Manaus with its beautiful neoclassic Opera House, was the center of the rubber boom in the 19th century. In Iguassu, the world's second largest falls are formed by a mass of water from three rivers joined together at the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. |

Day 1 - USA/Rio de Janeiro
Overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro. |

Day 9 - Brasilia
After a sunrise tour of the jungle, you will depart by boat to to Manaus. You will stop at the Opera House on your way to the airport, for your flight to Brasilia. (B) |

Day 2 - Rio de Janeiro
Early morning arrival. Transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax and explore the surroundings. Dinner at a Churrascaria is recommended. |

Day 10 - Brasilia
Morning tour of the ultra modern capital city, to admire the architectural masterpieces of Oscar Niemeyer. Afternoon and evening free to explore Brasilia on your own. (B) |

Day 3 - Rio de Janeiro
Morning tour of Corcovado Mountain, with its landmark statue of Christ the Redeemer, for a breathtaking view of the city. Continue through the park to the Tijuca Forest then drive along Rio's main beaches. Afternoon optional complimentary visit to a Gem factory. In the evening an optional Samba Show at a nightclub will put you in the perfect Rio mood. (B) |

Day 11 - Brasilia / Salvador (Bahia)
Morning departure for your flight to Salvador. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transportation to your hotel will be provided. The rest of the day is free to do as you please. (B) |

Day 4 - Rio de Janeiro
For a different perspective of the city an optional visit to Sugar Loaf Mountain is recommended. Two rides by cable car will take you to the top for great views of Copacabana beach and Guanabara Bay. There you will also visit the Botanical Gardens, with a wide variety of tropical plants and birds. Rest of the day at leisure. (B) |

Day 12 - Salvador (Bahia)
Morning tour of Salvador, including visits to the city's main churches, the Carmo Museum and Pelourinho Old Quarter, protected by UNESCO as World Cultural Patrimony. Afternoon free. In the evening an optional "Bahia by Night" tour with folklore is suggested. (B) |

Day 5 - Rio de Janeiro
Day free to do as you please. You can go on an optional tour of the Imperial City of Petropolis or a schooner cruise of the Tropical Islands. Or simply relax at one of Rio's fabulous beaches and absorb the atmosphere. In the evening you can join in the fun at one of the city's great jazz clubs. (B) |

Day 13 - Salvador (Bahia)
Day at leisure to discover Bahia your own way. You can go on an optional tour of the picturesque mountain village of Cachoeira, go on a Schooner Cruise of the Tropical Islands, hunt for bargains at Mercado Modelo or simply relax at one of Salvador's beaches. (B) |

Day 6 - Rio / Manaus
Morning tour of the historic town of Toledo, home of El Greco, where you will visit the Church of St. Thomas, the Cathedral San Juan de los Reyes and the Jewish Quarter. Afternoon free. |

Day 14 - Salvador / Iguassu
Morning flight to Foz do Iguassu, via Sao Paulo. Arrival transfer to your hotel followed by a walking tour of the Iguassu Falls. (B) |

Day 7 - Manaus / Amazon Jungle
Morning free in Manus. You can go on an optional city tour or relax by the hotel's pool. Afternoon departure by boat along the Rio Negro to your lodge in the Amazon jungle. Afternoon and evening free to relax and stroll around the long observation paths at Ariau Lodge. (B,D) |

Day 15 - Iguassu/USA
Morning at leisure. Afternoon departure to Rio de Janeiro connecting to your return flight to USA. (B)

Day 8 - Amazon / Brasilia
Today's activities include a jungle treck, followed by a reconnaissance tour by motorized canoe and piranha fishing. After dinner you will go alligator spoting with a flashlight. (B,L,D) |
