Rio New Year

New Year in Rio de Janeiro is the party of a lifetime. About 2 million people, mostly dressed in white to follow tradition, descend on Copacabana where about four stages are set on the beach, each with its own style of music from Rock to Samba. At midnight there is an impressive fireworks display over the bay, as flowers are placed in the ocean in the Afro-Brazilian tradition.
Rio Carnival
A vacation in Rio is fun at anytime of the year, but during Carnival the city hosts the greatest party in the world. For a whole year the Samba Schools prepare their floats and costumes, to parade through the ‘Sambadrome’ and compete for the title of Carnival winner. Tickets for the event should be purchased in advance with your Carnival Vacation package.
If you miss the main event, the week after Carnival there is the ‘Winners Parade’.
