Day 1 (Sat): USA / Manaus
Evening departure on a direct flight from Miami to Manaus, arriving at about midnight. Dinner will be served on board.
Day 2 (Sun): Manaus
Arrival transfer to your hotel in Manaus, for a restful night. Day free to do as you please. An optional city tour of Manaus, including a visit to the Opera House, is recommended. There is a variety of bars and restaurants with esplanades, just outside the hotel.
Day 3 (Mon): Manaus / Amazon River
Morning free. Afternoon departure on your Clipper Cruise, sailing past Manaus with a panoramic view of the city’s busy port. Continue to the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ where the dark Rio Negro meets the muddy Rio Solimoes to form the mighty Amazon River. Due to the different density, the waters of the two rivers don’t mix for miles and provide a great view of this natural phenomena. Continue navigation in Xiborena and Careiro region to Curari, where a canoe trip will take you to explore the smaller creeks of the floodplain, with rubber trees and giant water lilies (in season). Returning at sunset to observe caimans along the way. Evening navigation up the Rio Solimoes towards Janauaca, with dinner on the way.
Day 4 (Tue): Solimoes River (Amazon)
Early morning bird-watching trip by canoe. There are good chances of seeing Hoatzins, as well as large flocks of Greets and Cormorants. After breakfast, a visit to local inhabitants of Lake Januaca, who live from fishing and small plantations, as well as native fruits. In the afternoon there will be piranha fishing and after dinner a nocturnal trip to spot night-hawks, snakes, toro-rats, sloth and frogs. Night navigation downstream on the Amazon Rio Solimoes.
Day 5 (Wed): Amazon / Rio Negro
Early morning bird-watching trip to the Januari Ecological Park , before navigating up the Rio Negro, back to Hotel Tropical Manaus for a lunch break and to pick-up new passengers for the second leg of this cruise. The Rio Nego waters are oxidized by the vegetation, which acts as a mosquito repellant. Afternoon departure, followed by a presentation from the crew and the opportunity to meet the new travel companions. Navigation to the Ariau river (tributary of Rio Negro), where you will have a canoe trip at sunset and return after dark, to observe the changes in the forest at night-fall and nocturnal animals. After dinner, navigation to Acu-Crek and nearby tributaries. |

Day 6 (Thur): Rio Negro (Amazon)
After breakfast, trekking through the forest with expert commentary from the naturalist Guide about the flora and fauna, then visit to a ‘Caboclo’ family, to observe their way of life in harmony with nature. After lunch, navigation through the Anavilhanas, the largest river archipelago in the world, then visit the isolated village of Novo Airao, to see the local market and boat building sawmills. Night trip to do alligator spotting, when you may also see frogs, sloth and snakes, depending on the season.
Day 7 (Fri): Rio Negro (Amazon)
Leisurely morning at Praia Grande beach of white sand. Canoe trip on Acajatuba lake to see the local flora and go fishing for piranhas. Depending on the water level, there may be a stop at Paricabuba community to see the remains of abandoned rubber-boom buildings or a canoe trip to the Jacareubal area.
Day 8 (Sat): Rio Negro / Manaus
After another visit to the ‘Meeting of the Waters’, for the benefit of passengers who joined only the second leg of the cruise, late morning arrival in Manaus. The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy your hotel’s amenities. Good opportunity for some last minute tax-free shopping.
Day 9: Manaus / USA
Morning free. Afternoon departure transfer for your return flig
