Both types of Clipper boat cruises include powered canoe expeditions. The purpose built Iberostar Grand Amazon is the best cruise ship in the Amazon and offers first class cruising amenities with expeditions by power boat into the jungle. The M/V Desafio classical schooner boat, is a well restored ‘ old world’ sailing vessel, with casual elegance and an intimate atmosphere. |

 Discover the mighty Amazon rainforest, the largest in the world, which provides one quarter of the world’s water supply and where one third of the world’s species are sheltered. The M/V Desafio classical schooner boat has been lovingly restored with the original old world features. It offers a combination of comfort and casual elegance, for discerning travelers with a sense of adventure, who prefer close contact with fellow passengers and an intimate atmosphere. With only 12 cabins, M/V Desafio is small enough to explore more remote areas. The Rio Negro waters are oxidized by the vegetation, which acts as a mosquito repellant, making this cruise more enjoyable.
Daily expeditions by small motorized boats, include trips in lagoons, narrow channels, creeks and flooded forest. The daily activities include jungle treks, piranha fishing and alligator spotting. Also there will be the opportunity to see the native river communities, with friendly and hospitable people living close to nature. Theme parties onboard include lectures by expert naturalist guides.

 Day 1 (Sat): USA / Manaus
Evening departure on a direct flight from Miami to Manaus, arriving at about midnight. Dinner will be served on board.
 Day 2 (Sun): Manaus
Arrival transfer to your hotel in Manaus, for a restful night. Day free to relax by the pool and enjoy the panoramic views of Rio Negro. There is a variety of bars and restaurants with esplanades, just outside the hotel.
 Day 3 (Mon): Manaus / Amazon River
Day free. An optional city tour of Manaus, including a visit to the Opera House, is recommended. There is also tax-free shopping and in the evening you can join in the fun at one of the many bars and clubs out side your hotel.
 Day 4 (Tue): Solimoes River (Amazon)
Morning free. Afternoon boarding of M/V Desafio at the dock of Hotel Tropical Manaus. Your Amazon jungle adventure begins by going past the port of Manaus to the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ where the dark Rio Negro meets the muddy Rio Solimoes to form the mighty Amazon River. Due to the  different density, the waters of the two rivers don’t mix for miles and provide and provide a spectacular view of this natural phenomena. Navigating towards Lake Januari, you will go canoeing to see the Igarapes and visit an indigenous house.

 Day 5 (Thur): Rio Negro (Amazon)
After an early breakfast, departure for a trekking adventure through the jungle, where you will see ancient trees and other endemic flora. Return to the M/V Desafio for a swim in the warm waters of Rio Negro, followed by lunch en route to Samauma Islands, in the Anavilhas Archipelago, the largest river archipelago in the world. In the afternoon, a reconnaissance tour around the islands, lakes, igrapes and igapos. After dinner, a brief outing by canoe to experience the night sounds of the jungle.
 Day 6 (Fri): Rio Negro (Amazon)
Early morning departure towards Santa Maria, a native ‘Caboclo’ village where you will have the opportunity to see the “Ribeirinho” way of living close to nature. Navigating towards ‘Furo do Melo’ lunch will be served and in the afternoon there will be a piranha fishing contest. Return to M/V Desafio anchored a safe distance away from the carnivore fish, for a relaxing swim and a rest. After dinner, an exciting canoe ride to do alligators’ spotting.
 Day 7 (Sat): Rio Negro / Manaus
Early morning rise to admire the exotic birds flying out of their night resting places and listen to the morning sounds of the jungle. After breakfast, start heading back towards Manaus, with opportunities for great panoramic pictures along the way. Arrival at Hotel Tropical Manus at about 11.00 AM. The afternoon is free to enjoy a nice swim in the hotel’s pool.
 Day 8: Manaus / USA
Morning free. Afternoon departure transfer for your return flight home.
