TORTUGA ISLAND– Pristine island off the Nicoya Peninsula, named after the Turtles that nestle in the island's white sandy beach.
CARARA RESERVE – Biological Reserve, with marshes flooded by the Tarcoles River, rich in amphibians and reptiles. Also inhabited by mammals including two-toed sloths, monkey's, magay cats and white tailed deer.
SAVEGRE RIVER – White water rafting with mild rapids flowing through tropical rain forest.
SARCHI – Picturesque village that is the country's main crafts center, where you can watch craftsman hand-paint the traditional oxcarts and shop for souvenirs.
MONTEVERDE FOREST – Private reserve the mountains, that is home to a variety of exotic birds, including the legendary Quetzal. There you can also see the splendid Butterfly Garden. |
